Gabby

Currently Work? You bet!
Top Skills: High-energy, motivated, positive, organizing.

Kyle

Currently Work? Yes!
Top Skills: Cleaning, detail-oriented, hardworking.

Due to the nature of their disabilities, both Gabby and Kyle benefit from having a vocational coach with them to assist them at their jobs. This can be expensive unless a way is found for them to share coaching support. With this in mind, the VFPS team spent time determining if their skills and personalities were complementary, noting the following:

Gabby:

  • high-energy, motivated, positive
  • does best when she’s on the move
  • enjoys building relationships
  • skilled at organizing supplies & stocking

Kyle:

  • happiest when helping others
  • great smile, hardworking, patient
  • excellent cleaner
  • detail oriented & thorough

Taking this into account, VFPS staff proposed a customized “job share” arrangement to the management of the Dane County Regional Airport.

The offer: Gabby and Kyle would work together to accomplish a set of tasks that involved both light cleaning and stocking supplies, supported by 1 job coach. Using this innovative approach, the VFPS team made a way for Gabby and Kyle to be hired both at the airport and at a nearby office as well!

Great job matches, caring work environments, and cost-effective support = a VFPS “win-win-win”!
