ERI is proud to support National Disability Employment Awareness Month and its theme of “Inclusion Drives Innovation.” To highlight the value of the journey toward inclusion, here are a few personal stories and words of advice from people we have worked with in the past year:
Shannon is a young mother going to school to become a nurse after persevering through homelessness. She hopes her story encourages others to reach out for help when they need it.
Lori started a new career in Human Resources after a work injury. She says, “If I can go back to school and start a new career in my 50s, just about anyone can do it.”
Stacy navigated the world of work to establish a career. She talks about how finding the right job can be a lot of work, but every proactive step forward opens the door to unexpected possibilities.
October’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month is led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, but its true spirit lies in the many observances held at the grassroots level across the nation every year. Employers of all sizes and in all industries are encouraged to participate in NDEAM.
Throughout the month, we will be engaging in a variety of activities to highlight disability employment issues and the role they play in fostering inclusion in the workplace.
