The tax filing deadline was extended to July 15, 2020, by The IRS (Internal Revenue Service) and State of Wisconsin in response to COVID-19. If you haven’t filed your taxes already, you still have time to get free tax preparation help.

Individual resource agencies listed here may have COVID-19 protection requirements, such as social distancing or temperature screenings, to protect the health of both their service providers and you. Please comply with their requirements, for the health and safety of all.

Dane County Resources

There are several organizations within Dane County that offer free tax preparation assistance. Check these ones out:

  • Goodwill – Income Tax Prep Assistance
  • COVID-19 Protections: Goodwill offers Same-Day Valet service that includes meeting briefly with a volunteer to drop off tax paperwork. Returns will be completed in approximately 1 hour. They will call you when your return is ready for pick-up and review with a tax preparer.

    Paperwork needs to be completed and brought with you to your appointment.  Required documents can be mailed to you if you are unable to print them beforehand.
