Are you passionate about helping individuals with disabilities find and maintain meaningful work in their communities? Employment Resources, Inc. (ERI), seeks a dedicated and compassionate Employment Specialist to work with adults, youth, and families in the Northern Wisconsin area as they navigate their path to community integrated employment. 

About ERI

ERI is a dynamic nonprofit dedicated to advancing employment opportunities, supporting personal choices, and enhancing the well-being of individuals with disabilities. Our innovative use of technology and comprehensive training programs has positioned us as a respected leader at a state and national level in disability employment services and evidence-based practices in the vocational field. We actively participate in policy discussions and advocacy efforts to create systemic change in disability employment.

This job is home-based with travel throughout Northern Wisconsin counties including Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas, and the surrounding areas to work directly with individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment. Travel to ERI's main office in Madison may be required on occasion. However, we understand the importance of flexibility and work-life balance. ERI provides all necessary equipment including computer, printer and telephone equipment and other essential work tools.

As our new Employment Specialist, you will:

  • Build relationships with local employers and community partners
  • Provide job readiness training to individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment
  • Offer on-the-job support to help individuals maintain meaningful work in the community
  • Help individuals achieve their employment goals through person-centered support
  • Develop your knowledge, skill, and abilities related to Customized Job Development, Customized Employment Components, Business and Employment Practices, and Business Networking
  • Creatively approach and work through challenging situations
  • Support adults, youth, and families in finding and maintaining employment

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A Bachelor's or Associate Degree in human services, education, business, paralegal or allied health field, or equivalent training and experience required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail
  • The ability to learn very specific information and requirements
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while remaining flexible
  • The ability to relate, communicate and engage with diverse populations
  • Experience in supported employment or human services is preferred
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license and proof of personal auto liability insurance meeting Wisconsin's minimum requirement
  • Ability to pass and maintain clearance related to criminal, caregiver, and sex offender background check requirements
  • Capability using a computer and business software
