Connie DaValt

Madison Area Work Incentives Coordinator, Social Security Administration

Connie DaValt is the Area Work Incentives Coordinator with the Social Security Administration. She has been with SSA for a number of years and during her career, she has worked in several Wisconsin Social Security offices. Her focus has been on helping individuals with disabilities apply for benefits and maintain eligibility. In recent years, she has specialized in the effect of work activity on both Social Security disability and Supplemental Security Income benefits. Currently as the AWIC, she coordinates and conducts public outreach and training on Social Security work incentives and monitors the disability work-related issues in Wisconsin SSA offices.

Tim Gierke

District Manager, Appleton Social Security Administration

Tim Gierke has worked for the Social Security Administration for 32 years. For the past 21 years he has served as the District Manager of the Appleton Social Security Office. In his district alone, 51,000 people receive over $54 million per month in Social Security benefits. Mr. Gierke speaks to over 1,000 people each year about the Social Security program. He has a regular bi-monthly column in the business section of the Appleton Post Crescent newspaper and is a regular guest on WHBY’s Good Neighbor Show on the third Wednesday of the month, where he provides Social Security answers to call-in questions. Mr. Gierke’s staff has been honored with the Chicago Region’s Skip Kruse Memorial Return to Work Award for their work incentives outreach. His preparation included a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, a master’s degree from the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, a year of staff work in the U.S. Senate, and many years of direct, front line public service for Social Security offices in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan.
